Podcast: The power of collaborative working – Supporting people living with persistent pain
We know that people living with long-term health conditions and disabilities are more likely to be inactive.
Those who are least active stand to gain the most benefit in terms of health, but there is a complex web of inequalities that wrap around that, so we are working alongside NHS Gloucestershire, community organisations and other agencies to develop collaborative approaches and stronger connections between the local health system and physical activity.
In this episode we are joined by Chris Davis (Strategic Lead for Health, Active Ageing and Disability) and Dr Cathy Stannard (NHS Gloucestershire) who are talking about the innovative and collaborative ways in which the health system in Gloucestershire is working with the voluntary and community sector to support people living with persistent pain to self-manage their condition and its impact. Building relationships of trust, understanding personal experiences and focussing on local people in their place, space and context have been key to unlocking the potential of community-led action.
